Ain't we a dapper bunch?
We made it back to MA after a day and a half of driving through all those gorgeous states. I returned home to find some major problems with one of my servers and spend all night and the next day (which was my birthday) getting things under control. Fortunately, things are pretty much under control and I can once again sleep at night.
I haven't had time to process the photos from our trip yet. Hopefully I can spend some time doing that this weekend. So to appease all those who are so eager to peep into our visit, here is a group shot we managed to coordinate after the Lacey sing before we all went our separate ways. We don't look too bad for having sung all day in the Alabama heat. The weather was very merciful. Notice that I am actually in this photo! At the helm of my camera is JPK. Thanks Jesse!
More photos coming soon. I promise!

Alabama was fantastic! Everyone was incredibly warm and friendly. Sheldon and I lead a song each day, and one together on Saturday. The highlight of the singing, to me, was when little Will Allred, who's quite young [10 years old--according to Karen Freund], lead "Better World" on Sunday. It just had such energy, and we were all so together, and there was little Will at the heart of it. I think it was literally my favorite singing experience ever, I'll never forget it!
We had a wonderful time. The people were great, the singing was great, the hotels were great, and even the weather was great: mercifully cool for Alabama summer. We left after the sing on Sunday and got right on the highway. We had a phenomenal thai dinner in Knoxville, TN, with Allison, Jenna, Jan, and Kelsey. I had a stirfry in a "basil coconut cream sauce." Wow, was it every yummy. One of the top 10 dinners of my life!
Now for the bad news:
We arrived home around 10pm last night, and unfortunately were greeted by technical hell. Sheldon was confronted with server issues that couldn't wait, and was literally up all night dealing with them. He's still dealing with them, my poor dear! Not exactly how he wanted to spend his birthday; working all day after 12 hours of driving and a sleepless night.
When it rains it pours: I booted up my computer, only to have it die within an hour. Thankfully after I'd finished taking care of essential business for the next few days. Apparently the fan broke and the thing fried itself. Sheldon's too busy to help me with it, so I've decided to do about the only thing I can do without a computer: keep Sheldon company by planting myself on his office couch and delving further into Harry Potter Book 6. So here we have it, with me on a forced extended-vacation (not complaining!), while poor Sheldon hasn't slept in 34 hours. At least the fates have conspired to put me on his office couch, where he says he really appreciates the company today.
We'd hoped to go to our usual Tuesday night sing tonight, but no-can-do. Sheldon's too busy to do anything to celebrate his birthday, but I know he is relishing the birthday cards and other well-wishes, so thanks for these!
